a) Gear list:

1x Knife (i.e. pocketknife, blade length 5-cm approx.)
1x hydration system, minimum 2 liters (Camelback).
Trekking:
Hiking poles, fleece jacket, gaiters (recommend).
Additional equipment
Supplied by the organization (kayak, raft and climbing gear). You can bring your kayak paddles, and personal climbing gear, if you preferred.
2x Dry bags (1 per boat to contain competitors)
Unless specified, paddling between the hours of 17:00 and 06:00 is not allowed. If you are on the water just before 17:00, it is possible to camp on the shore till the time has elapsed. If you are found on the water after 17:00 there will be a time penalty of 15 minutes for every minute on the water after this time. After 17:30 teams will be disqualified.
Mountain Bike:
Per person:

Cycle helmets must be worn during all biking sections.
The competitors need to be prepared to handle all mechanical problems.
Team repair kit. Minimum 2 inner tubes per bike, pump, patch kit, tools, chain tool, etc.
b) Equipment inspection
At race registration, there will be a minimum gear inspection in order that the organizers can certify that every team meets the requirements of the race regulations.
Other gear inspections can occur at any time during the race at transitions or check points. Ideally before any major high exposed mountain section.
Any team not meeting the requirements, at race registration, or at a check point will be unable to proceed and will be penalized.
c) Forbidden equipment / items
GPS, pedometer or any navigational and night vision devices are not allowed.
Performance enhancing drugs. - refer to the Wada list
Any maps not provided by the organization
d) Emergency First Aid Kit (Compulsory Per Team)
Painkillers / anti fever tablets Qty: 20 (Analgesic and Antipyretic) e.g. Nurofen, Aspirin or Panadol
Disinfectant i.e. Betadine (30ml) or iodine wipes (Qty: 10)
Crepe bandage 8 cm (one roll)
Crepe bandage 6 cm (one roll)
3" x 4" Gauze pads (Qty: 5)
1" adhesive elastic tape (Qty: 1)
Total sunscreen cream (30 g) minimum 15+
Electrolytes (plenty)
Assorted plasters
Antiseptic (cream or lotion)
Moleskin or 2nd Skin
Cream for skin irritation or rash
Foot cream ... and some comfort medication as anti acid (stomach acidity), decongestant tablets, cough lozenges, nasal solution.
An equivalent product may replace the names cited as references.
This list is the minimum requirement, but is not restrictive. You may carry any additional items you wish.
We also highly recommend assistants and competitors to get comfort medication and other first aid items in sufficient quantities, but in case of persistent illness, or important injury, the medical personnel, or an independent qualified doctor should be approached.
